Description
The STAR Collaboration has recently released their BES II data for the net-proton fluctuations. In comparison to the BES I data, the errors in BES II are significantly reduced. Understanding the new data and their relation to, e.g., the possible QCD critical end point (CEP) in the QCD phase diagram, are highly required. In this talk, I try to do this work based on the studies of QCD phase transitions within the functional renormalization group (fRG). Furthermore, I also would like to discuss recent progress in fRG studies of QCD phase transitions at finite temperature and densities, including the QCD phase structure and the location of the critical end point (CEP), baryon number fluctuations, the size of the critical region and the new concept ‘ripples’ of CEP, etc.
