Description

In this talk we will assess to detectability of axion dark matter in the post-inflationary scenario. We will focus on the QCD axion, a one parameter model introduced by Peccei and Quinn to clear the strong CP puzzle, which can explain the observed DM abundance for a precise value of its mass. Starting from numerical simulations of the early Universe, including the evolution of topological defects and the dynamics of axion miniclusters, we describe the small-scale structure of axion dark matter and discuss the implications for current and future direct detection experiments.
