DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Prof. Dr. Thomas Guhr\n\n\n \nThe guiding principle
of statistical physics is to find universal laws for systems with very ma
ny degrees of freedom. While a wealth of results isavailable for physics s
ystems in equilibrium\, less is known for nonstationary systems and/or com
plex systems beyond traditional physics.\nHere\, the focus is on motorway
traffic. Based on large-scale data analyses\, I will present three new res
ults:(1) antipersistence and a certain universality in traffic jams(2) rob
ust scaling for the distributions of traveled distances in motorway networ
ks of many countries(3) measurement of response functions to study the spr
eading of traffic jams\nWhat is the role played by the crows? - I will tel
 l you in my talk.\n\nhttps://indico.physik.uni-bielefeld.de/event/265/
