Description
This talk will review the physics of preheating, namely, the end of the initial inflationary era of our universe. This period is dominated by highly non-linear but classical physics, whose study necessitates dedicated numerical simulations. After discussing such simulations, I will present original results on the gravitational waves emitted during preheating. In particular, I will show how they can provide an example where gravitational waves can be used to gain insight into the particle content of the underlying fundamental theory.
