
I will attempt to shed some light on how we approach these questions from a scientific perspective. How – if even - can physical laws be identified as the origin of biological function? The laws I will discuss are conservation laws in particular the 2nd law of thermodynamics and momentum conservation. The latter is so far practically absent in all biological models, but most potent in order to design efficient communication.
Further, we need to make a serious attempt to integrate our knowledge. Genetics just like single molecules are embedded in an environment which is able to entirely control molecular events. However, just like in liquid vs ice-like H2O, it is not simply the material, but the state it is put in, that determines its function.
Finally, we need to put back together what nature never took apart, for living matter does not care about our distinctions between chemistry, physics, biology and medicine let alone their subspecialities.
