During the last 40 years after the publication of the seminal Matsui&Satz paper on the dissolution of heavy quark bound states in the Quark-Gluon Plasma the study of heavy quarks produced in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collision developed into a very active field of research. Heavy Quarks turned out to provide a versatile probes for the analysis of properties of the QGP.
This workshop aims to bring together theorists and experimentalists engaged in the exploration of properties of the Quark-Gluon plasma using heavy quarks as a probe to discuss and further develop the current state-of-the-art analysis of strong-interaction matter at high temperature and density.
The workshop will address a broad spectrum of topics, including:
- color screening and the heavy quark potential
- dissolution and regeneration of heavy-quark bound states
- quasi-particle excitations in the QGP
- thermalization of heavy quarks
- heavy quark transport
A special session of the workshop will be devoted to the celebration of the 90th birthday of Helmut Satz.
