Rather than having proceedings we intend to publish conference contributions as a topical collection of articles in EPJA.
The Topical Collection aims at a comprehensive representation of the scientific topics highly relevant to the field of Heavy Quarks in the Quark-Gluon Plasma.
To reach this goal, the Editors of the Topical Collection will invite keynote speakers to submit manuscripts to the Topical Collection and ensure peer review, in accordance with the standards and editorial procedures of EPJA. The contents of the manuscripts shall be original new results which are not published or under review in other journals.

Abstract:
During the last 40 years after the publication of the seminal Matsui&Satz paper on the dissolution of heavy quark bound states in the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP), the study of heavy quarks produced in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions developed into a very active field of research. Heavy Quarks turned out to provide versatile probes for the analysis of properties of the QGP. This Topical Collection (TC) aims at bringing together reviews and research papers by theorists and experimentalists engaged in the exploration of properties of the QGP using heavy quarks as a probe to discuss and further develop the current state-of-the-art analysis of strong-interaction matter at high temperature and density.

Submission Procedure
The authors are invited to submit their paper electronically through the website https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/epja.
Submissions should be clearly identified as intended for the Topical Collection "Heavy quarks in the Quark-Gluon Plasma". Three types of manuscripts are admissible to this Topical Issue: reviews, research articles, and short communications. Papers will be published continuously and will appear (as soon as accepted) on the journal website. The electronic version of the Topical Collection will contain the papers in the order of publication. All submitted papers will be refereed according to the usual high standards of the journal.
Manuscripts should be prepared following the Submission Guidelines.

Open Access
EPJ A is a transformative journal offering Open Access (OA) publication via a rapidly growing number of Open Access Agreements and corresponding authors affiliated to institutions participating in these agreements may be eligible to publish OA, the fee being then covered by the institutional partner. Eligibility will be verified when the corresponding author is requested to complete the relevant affiliation information after acceptance of the paper. Corresponding authors not affiliated to institutes with Open Access Agreements have to decide between paying the current Open Access fee or choosing the subscription option without any publication charges. (Alternatively, co-authors may jointly investigate if a change of corresponding author would make their paper eligible for institutional OA.)
